Holiday Week Rides

A long string of holidays coming up, which means of course daily cycling!
Send me any rides you want company for at any time and I’ll forward them to the group.
Here’s what we have so far:
On Saturday the 27th I’ll do the usual trip to Odaiba. On Sunday the 28th, Brian is planning a loooong ride to Chiba, and on Monday the 29th I’ll do an intermediate Tama loop. Thursday, May 2nd, Andrew will take a troupe down to Enoshima for some fun at the beach and a train ride back.
For our May 8th meeting, we’ll return to our old haunt at The Pink Cow in Akasaka. Not sure yet, but Traci’s asking Chef Andy to be there to delight us with his hearty home cooking.
And finally, 24 hours after first publicizing the Tokyo Bay Cruise IV a third of the spaces were taken. So let me know you’re coming. I will cut off reservations if we get too many people.
Saturday 4/27 Odaiba Beginners’
Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 for an easy, 30-km jaunt out to the island in the bay for a brew or two. Leader: me.
Sunday 4/28 Roppongi to Tsuchiura Long Ride
The weather looks sunny and the wind out of the north, moderating in the afternoon.
This route is flat and we may be in luck with a tail wind the down the Tone section and moderating and perhaps, if we’re lucky, going around to the east in the afternoon for a tail wind along the Kasumigaura.

I’ve done most of this ride, but 5 years ago so expect the unexpected.
It is a long ride (170 odd km) and stops few and far between. There will be some kombini, but no guarantee when and where.
We’ll take the train home from Tsuchiura so bring a bike bag in addition to helmet, tubes/spares, pump, water, sunscreen, food.

Monday 4/29 Tama Loop
Intermediate-level. 55km, easy but fast. Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. Alternate rendezvous points: KFC in Ebisu @ 11:30, Intersection of Kan-Nana and Komazawa-Dori @ 11:45, Komazawa Park @ noon, bridge at Futako-Tamagawa (Kanagawa side) @ 12:20, Gas Bashi @ 12:45 or 1:00. Long break at Jonan Jima seaside park (across from Haneda) at 1:30 or 2:00. Convenience store lunch. Please contact me if one of these meeting spots applies to you. 090-5813-6721. Back by 3:00 or 3:30.
Thursday 5/2 Futakotamagawa to Enoshima
An easy intermediate ride if you have a train bag for the return trip.
Meet at the Kawasaki end of Futako bridge (the far end from Futako-tamagawa) at 11:00 for 11:10 departure. If running late, call 070-2929-4843. About 60 km to Enoshima, mostly along rivers. Expect a pretty slow ride. Leader: Andrew
Food, drink, paddling in the sea, whatever at Enoshima. Then bag up the bikes for a train from Enoshima station. Options to ride back to Fujisawa, Machida or all the way if you like, but guidance is not guaranteed.
