"Just
Kidding!"

The evil February Monster cackled maniacally as he started to swing shut the walk-in freezer door on Half-Fast Man. “Back to my normal weather patterns!”

“Not so fast, iceball" cried Changeable Weather Girl. “Turns out that after cold and sunless skies forecast all week, this weekend will be perfectly cyclable for this half-assed crew!” (It’s how she said it.)

Still cold; highs 9-12 degrees, some sun, could be windy. Dress appropriately.

So I’ll do a pair of beginners’ rides, Odaiba on Saturday and Jonan Jima on Sunday.

Masks up, please. I don’t like them any better than you do, but what I like even less is being the old lady nagging at you to keep them up over your mouth and nose. (Okay, I admit to pulling mine down temporarily when powering up a hill. But you know what I mean.) Just a few more months, people.

And bring an eco-bag for your convenience store lunches, to avoid pointlessly adding more plastic trash to our environment. Not optional! Consequences.

Saturday Odaiba Beginners’

Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for an easy, 30-km ride out to the magical island in the Bay for a brew or two. Back by 2:30.

Sunday Haneda Jaunt

Start at the Hyatt at 11:00 for another easy 30-km lope out to Jonan Jima, a little beach park across from Haneda Airport. Back by 2:30.

As usual, this can be extended to what we call a “reverse Tama” ride if there’s someone along who knows the way. Then it would be about 55km.

The amusement never ends
