G’day, bikers!
Although I seem to be nearly back to normal post COVID, I’m going to take another weekend off.
Saturday dry but hot, Sunday still too wet to plan.
Humbly leaping into the breach on Saturday are Todd, with a lunatic-level hill climb, and Paul, with a closer-to-home Odaiba jaunt.
Bring proof of vaccination, please. Face masks required for meet-up spots and stores, etc. Bring an eco-bag for any convenience store purchases.
Be warned that biking in 38-degree ("feels like," actual temp 32) can be dangerous. Stop to cool off if necessary and drink lots of water. Heatstroke can mess you up.
Saturday Odaiba Beginners
Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 for an easy, 30-km lope out to the beach for a brew or two. Back by 2:30 at the latest.

Saturday Kazahari Rindo + Okutama Mukashi Michi.
Meet at Musashi-Itsukaichi station (https://goo.gl/maps/R7N48MjmJNgLNXGc8) at 9am and head towards Akigawa on some backroads before ascending Kazahari Rindo - which comes out at the top of the Tomin-no-mori climb ~1100m. Note Kazahari rindo is a 6.5km climb with an average gradient of 10% - it's steep, but it's worth it for the view and the descent down to the Lake. Lunch at the Okutama noodle place (https://goo.gl/maps/Vsr8kCTBNEnj5naEA - although I'm open to suggestions if anyone has other ideas), and descend down to Okutama via the Mukashi michi. The Mukashi michi is a backroad that connects lake Okutama to the town - there is around 600m of gravel, but it's not too rough, and should be walkable if you don't want to ride it. In Okutama we can enjoy a beer and a dip in the river before heading towards Ome. The full route is 80km - and will be more like 180km from central Tokyo. Bring a spare tube, and more water/food than you think you need! Leader: Todd. If you have any questions, please contact todd.perry@PROTECTED
