…of last weekend is what we have coming up. Sunny and dry on Saturday and “PM showers” on Sunday.

And again we have a selection of rides for you. On Saturday (18 and sunny), Brian will do his patented Tsurumi headwaters ride while I’ll launch an Odaiba Plus the same day. Sunday I may again head out to Jonan, but wait for a confirmation Saturday evening.

Masks up, please, for meet-up spots and stores, etc. Bring a reusable eco bag for your lunch purchases. Vaccinated riders only, please.

Saturday Headwaters of the Tsurumi

Brian: Let’s ride the other great river in Tokyo, Kawasaki and Yokohama, the mighty Tsurumi.
Saturday (Nov 19) morning start at 09;00 from in front of the Giant Shop under the bridge at Futagotamagawa.
Riide up the left bank of the Tamagawa to Seisekisakuragaoka (combini stop) and then ride up the Okurigawa to Minamiosawa.
Stop in a grocery store to buy lunch stuff and then ride a bit further to get on to the Tank Road and the park for a lunch stop with toilet and water and a lovely view of Machida.  Then we drop down onto the Tsurumi drainage which we follow to Yokohama Stadium where we will take a short break (I suggest you bring a snack as I usually get a little peckish by this time and only toilets and water available here.)  From there continue down the Tsurumi to about km 8. Here we leave the Tsurumi, traverse Kawasaki and return to the Tamagawa where Route 15 crosses it.  (This also where the Halffast Tama Loop ride leaves the Tama.)  Usually, the ride seems to break up here as some people find riding up the Tama is the best way home.  Other continue on some variation of the Tama loop back toward Roppongi and home before dark.
Total distance from Futago and back is about 80km
From Futago to the Tank Road is quite gradually up hill with one short steep bit just before we reach the shopping center at Minamiosawa.  The high point is on the Tank Road and it is almost all down hill from there.
Helmet, light, spare tube, water, masks, wind breaker and suitable clothing for the late fall weather, etc.
If anyone wants to join the ride between Futago and Seisekisakuragaoka, please contact me.  Suggested meeting points are the school by Tamagawasuidobashi and the bridge across the Tama leading into Seisekisakuraigaoka.

(Although this route is public, some have said they cannot access it.  I’m afraid the latest version of ridewithgps somehow lost it)

Saturday Odaiba Plus

Our usual jaunt out to the Beach by the Bay for a Brew or Two, but with 15-20 km tacked on to the front end to make it 50 km or so. Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00, back by 3:00. Post-ride pub a possibility. Leader: me.
