HEADING INTO
WINTER NOW
Getting colder. (Sunny Sat & Sun, highs 12 and 15.) We ride all year, but not necessarily as far. We’ll be easing into our winter pattern of offering keep-fit rides each Saturday and Sunday if it’s dry, but spend less time lingering in the great outdoors. (Okay, to hasten back to the warm pub). Bring an extra layer!
So this weekend I’m offering a pair of 30-km rides, one to Odaiba and one to Jonan Jima, while Todd is setting up a slightly more challenging Greenline ride for Sunday.
Masks up, please, for meet-up spots, stores, etc. Otherwise optional while riding. And bring an eco-bag for your convenience store lunches. HF frowns, strongly, on the single use of plastic bags.
Saturday Odaiba Jaunt
No surprises here, as we do this ride almost every week. “The routes may be the same but the rides are always different.” Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 for an easy 30km lope out to the beach by the bay for a brew or two. Back by 2:00 or so.
Sunday Jonan Jima
We’ll head out the back way to the seaside park. Start at the Hyatt at 11:00. 30km. Back by 2:00.
Sunday Mini Greenline (Todd)
We will then descend from the greenline and ride tomwards Ome, over azami pass. In Ome you can either get the train home, or alternatively we can stop for curry at Sherpa! The whole route is paved, but some parts of the greenline have some potholes or something - so it's best to bring a puncture repair kit. The route is a similar level of difficulty to the 'takao & rando rindo' ride we did in October.
Also winter is here, so bring something warm for the descents! Maybe a gilet or a jacket.
