...the dry, cool weather will continue for a while, reportedly forecast to warm up to as high as 16 degrees next weekend. Meanwhile this weekend will see temps of 8-10, partly cloudy weather. So a ride or two for you. On Saturday I’ll take a hardy group on an extended Jonan Jima ride, and James will do a longish Arakawa/Kasai/Odaiba jaunt on Sunday (with a shorter, later-starting add-on and a possible hookup, explained below).

Masks up, please, for meet-up spots, stores, etc. Otherwise optional while riding. And bring an eco bag for your convenience store purchases. Vaccinated riders only.

Saturday Jonan Plus

Our usual, 30-km keep-fit ride out to Jonan Jima on the bay, with a little 5-k riff added on. Start at 11:00 a.m. at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills. Layer up! Back by about 2:00. Easy. Coffee

Sunday Arakawa/Kasai/Odaiba Adventure

From James:

Departure from Roppongi Hills Grand Hyatt following Don’s famous Arakawa route through Tokyo to the Arakawa river.

Then downstream to Tokyo Bay before crossing over to Kasai Seaside Park for a short stop then over to Odaiba (Skipping Wakasu park) to grab Emi's chicken

Start: Grand Hyatt Roppongi

Date: 8-Jan-2023

Time: 1100JST (10min wait time)

Pace: Intermediate ride, beginners pace

Prerequisite: WATER, HELMET, FACEMASK, Dress warm!

Distance: ~65km

Ride leader: James Wee

Back to Don: I have to wait around home for some building maintenance people. But as soon as they’re finished, I’ll head straight for Odaiba, probably around 1:30, in the hope of hooking up with James’s ride. Call 090-5813-6721 if you’d like to join this (abbreviated) ride. Post-ride pub stop a definite possibility. About 25km.

Ciao for now,
