SATURDAY’S
RAIN
AND/OR
SNOW
…will not likely happen until the evening, but the day leading up to that will be cold and grey, so this week we’ll look to Sunday for a ride, when it will be warmer (13) and sunny (ish).
To those caught up in last week’s fun trying to get around the friggin’ Tokyo Marathon downtown, I have found a much easier place to cross the route near Shiba Koen. Next time.
And finally, Paul, our most stalwart of Half-Fast stalwarts, currently facing down some serious cancer, has provided us with an update on his condition. His email: santiburipaul@PROTECTED
Saturday Odaiba Ride
Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 for an easy, 30-km lope out to the magical island in the bay for a brew or two while we work on our sun tans. Beach bar lunch. Back by 2:30 at the latest.
Paul Checks In
I went to the Ariake hospital on Friday 21st to get the CT scan results from the previous Wednesday (19th).
The immunology treatment was showing no improvement in slowing the growth in my lungs. So they stopped the immunology with immediate effect – I did not have the drip that was planned for that Friday afternoon.
Instead, I will be starting another course of chemotherapy tomorrow (March 5th). This one is Paclitaxel. Apparently, the side effects can be quite severe with joint and muscle pain common. Hair loss is to be expected but at my age that is the last of my worries. I am not sure whether or when I will be able to get out to ride - as you will have noticed I am already struggling with my breathing and keeping pace with the group.
Fingers crossed that this treatment will do the trick in slowing it down.

Hang in there, bro.
