WHEN IT’S 23-26 DEGREES AND MOSTLY SUNNY
…it’s simply impossible to NOT go out biking, so this golden weekend I’m looking at a pair of easy beginners’ rides, to Odaiba and Jonan. Use sunscreen! If you forget, ask me, I have plenty.
BUT FIRST, I want all you sailors out there to understand that, in a senior moment, last week I listed two dates for our upcoming Tokyo Bay Cruise. The correct date is June 14th. There’s a flyer attached, which you can print out and invite your friends. Note that just three days after the initial announcement, the boat is already half full. I’ll cut off reservations if it gets too crowded. Don’t be left on shore!
Saturday Odaiba
Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for a 30-km ride out to the magical island in the bay for a brew or two on the beach. Beach bar lunch. Back by around 2:00
Sunday Jonan Jima
Start at the Hyatt at 11:00 for another easy 35-km lope out to a little beach park across from Haneda Airport. Please bring an eco-bag for your convenience store lunch. Back by 2:00 or so.
May Meeting
We’ve re-started our monthly meetings post-COVID at The Pink Cow. These gatherings are a time to talk about bikes or anything else, to see what your fellow club members look like without the helmets, goggles and Rapha gear, to scarf down some most excellent burritos and to swill a bit of wine. This month it will be on Wednesday, May 14th. We start rolling in at around 7:00. In Akasaka. Easy to find: https://www.thepinkcow.com/
