LOOKING

...a tad damp this weekend, but James is betting that Saturday’s sprinkles will hold off long enough to get in a Jonan Jima jaunt. I’ve got a cold, so the doc says take it easy. Then there’s this charity ride on June 1st set up by Rick Weisburd to supply women and girls around the world with bicycles.

Saturday  Jonan Jima

Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for a 30-km jaunt to our usual spot to watch the planes fly by. Back by 2:00 at the latest to beat the rain clouds.

Pace: slow. Flat terrain. beginners pace (avg 18Kmh)

Items to bring: Helmet, Eco-bag for your convenience store lunch.

Ride to Empower

Coming up on Saturday June 1, from Rick Weisburd:

From 9:30 am on Sunday 1 June, welcome to an easy, mostly flat, approximately 30 km loop ride from Tsukuba Station parking lot (near the information center) to Yokaren Peace Memorial Museum near the shore of Lake Kasumigaura, and back. This is a beginner ride to support World Bicycle Relief, which provides life-changing bicycles to empower girls and women in developing countries. Even if you are not planning to cycle with us, please donate to the Pedal to Empower campaign:  https://support.worldbicyclerelief.org/site/TR/PedaltoEmpower/General?px=1003781&pg=personal&fr_id=1072

Ride participants will be asked to donate at least 1000 yen. There is no need to contact me in advance; just turn up at Tsukuba Station plaza and be ready to ride at 9:30 on 1 June. Email me with any questions: rickweisburd@PROTECTED  If there is interest in a longer and faster ride, contact me and I’ll be happy to organize one later in June. Please pass along this information to anyone who might be interested.

Tokyo Bay Cruise VII

June 14th. The boat’s already about 80 percent full. Don’t be left on shore! Details here: http://halffastcycling.com/download/TBC-VII-Flyer.pdf

And finally,

Moving out

Apropos of absolutely nothing to do with cycling. The new owner of the Motoazabu building where I’ve lived for over 40 years wants to tear it down, and I’m looking for new digs. If you have any information on cool places to live please let me know. I’d like to stay close to Roppongi Hills, and would consider Hiroo, Azabu Juban, Omotesando and Roppongi. Max ¥200,000. Maybe some unique feature. Bike friendly, of course. Thanks in advance.
