PRETTY
HOT
…this weekend, so please take all necessary precautions, drink a lot of water, use sunscreen and rest when you need to (Mama Morton).
Saturday night I’ll do a short but dazzling beat-the-heat jaunt out to Odaiba, and Sunday Brian will celebrate being 80+ years old with an 80+ km loop ride up the Tama with lots of interesting side bits.
Next HFC burrito-fest at the Pink Cow, August 12. Mark your calendars.
Saturday Night Odaiba
Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 6:00 p.m. for a lovely 30-km ride through Tokyo after dark, out to the beach at Odaiba. Back by 9:00 at the latest.
80+ for 80+
Over to Brian:
Last year, I got COVID for my birthday so I didn’t feel much like riding. I’m glad to say I have pretty much recovered since. I would like to invite anyone who ia interested to join me on an 80+ km loop up the Tama and down the Tsurumi on Sunday, July 20.
900 Start at Tama Diner at Maruko bashi (There's a map at the link)
I'll pass by the Giant Bike shop under the train tracks at Futago at about 9:20 if you would like to join there. I’ll also pass by Tamagawa Shido bash at about 9:50 (Please let me know if you would like to meet there.)
On to Minami Osawa where we will buy some grub to eat at the picnic area on the Tank Road. (Bring a fanny pack or the like to carry your food.) Then we'll follow the Tsurumi River from the headwaters almost to the sea. (We’ll stop for water, etc at the Nissan Stadium area.) Back across Kawasaki to the Tama and up river to the start point for fish n chips and a beer about 1500
The forecast says the weather will be warm with southerly winds. Be ready for a warm day out but there are water stops and often some shade.
For congratulations or words of encouragement
Brian (now 80+)
