Seagoing revelers!

All systems are go for this Saturday’s gala Tokyo Bay Cruise. There’s a list of those who signed up at the bottom of this message.

Here are a few things you need to know:

Time and place: Saturday, June 1st, 6:15 p.m. at Asashio Canal Pier just across Harumi-dori from Triton Square.

Directions: Come up exit A3b at Kachidoki Station on the Oedo Line (E17) and make an immediate U-turn when you get to street level. That big street just ahead is Harumi-Dori. Go right (the opposite direction of Kachidoki Bridge) and walk about 5 minutes to a smaller bridge. The pier is visible on the right from the bridge. There’s a convenience store on the right along the way.

If you are not 100 percent sure where this is, please scout it out in advance. Don’t miss the boat!

Bring: ¥6000 (kids ¥3000) if you have not prepaid; a small dish to share (something nice, not a bag of chips); and plenty of whatever you wish to drink. Ice is provided. A wine opener is a good idea, but keep it with you.

I will bring 100 each of plates, ohashi, glasses, forks and napkins.

Volunteers: I will need the following help: (1) a cashier to work with me as people arrive, (2) a table-setting crew to board first and distribute all the plates, etc on the two tables, (3) someone to answer phone calls from lost people while I’m busy with the check-in.

Toast: As soon as we leave the dock and everyone has a drink in hand, we will all raise a glass to Kevin, a fallen comrade.

Wear sensible shoes. You’ll be on a boat.

We will return to the pier at 9:50, and the boat crew asks that we disembark immediately, as the facility closes at 10:00.

See you there!
