Kazahari Rindo: Akira and Peter

Sunday 7 July, PROVISIONALLY:

Kazahari rindō and more -- a cool ride in the hills

Thermoregulation via wide-area sprinkler may end soon; let's enjoy it
while we can.

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30451344?beta=false -- yes, 83 km, and
2400 metres of climbing. Waiting at the tops.

Setting off at 08:15 from the 7-11 across the road from
Musashi-Itsukaichi station. Suggested train: the ホリデー快速あきがわ1号 (Horidē
kaisoku Akigawa ichigō), which is the front one third -- the
car(riage)s with the highest numbers -- of a JR train leaving Shinjuku
at 06:46. If you're in the correct car(riage), you'll arrive at
Musashi-Itsukaichi at 07:55. (The train divides into two at Haijima
station; its longer half goes to Okutama station, which you don't
want. Other stops and times for this train:
https://tinyurl.com/akigawa-one .)

We'll have to beware of debris on the road after heavy rain, and
there'll be some light drizzle during the day. If this threatens to
turn to rain, some bail-out points are:

25 km: to Okutama station
58 km: to Uenohara station
62 km: to Fujino station
69 km: to Sagamiko station

As long as there's no major problem, we should end up at Takao station
(Chūō and Keiō lines) at around 3.

Bring a spare inner tube, maybe two; maybe even a spare tyre. And
ziplocs for your banknotes etc. Check that your brakes are in good
nick.

Brains and leader: Akira Kihara. Lanterne rouge, scrivener and contact
person: Peter Evans

Cancelling if the forecast worsens; and if there's a late
cancellation, it won't be announced via any follow-up message from
Half Fast. So please email peter.evans.somewhere@PROTECTEDm if you'd
like to check that the ride is still on.
