HI ALL! JUST A NOTE TO REMIND YOU THAT THE DEADLINE FOR RESERVATIONS FOR THIS WEEKEND’S 10/6 PICNIC IS WEDNESDAY.
Time to stop procrastinating. The weather will likely be okay. Stefano has lots of shelters that can be set up.
We just need to know how much food to stock in; it’s not a firm reservation. You can drop out if it gets too rainy. The original message is copied below:
Stefano’s Annual
Gourmet Italian BBQ Picnic!
On October 6th, a Sunday, we’ll mount up and ride out to Wakasu Park (out by the Dinosaur Bridge) for Stefano’s annual feast. For ¥5000 you get all you can eat of delicious grilled beef, pork, chicken and homemade Italian sausage, along with several salads and pastas and plenty of sodas, beers and wine (we of course never drink and ride). Kids 8 or over: ¥2000, under 8: free.
To maximize participation, we do this ride in two stages. The first group leaves the Grand Hyatt at Roppongi Hills at 10:00 a.m. for a complete Arakawa loop (about 70km), meeting up with the second group starting at 11:00 that takes a more direct and shorter (40km) route. The two groups meet at the river and proceed to the picnic site together. This year bring a bike lock, as we will leave our bikes at the (guarded) entrance. This event has in the past been our largest ever Half-Fast ride, at 52 people. You can head home any time you like if you remember the way. Otherwise we’ll roll out for the return ride at about 3:00 or 3:30
Non-biking family and friends can get there by taking the train to Shin-Kiba station and boarding the #11 bus for Wakasu Park. Koto Ward, 136-0083. Or grab a cab.
RESERVATIONS REQUIRED
Not a hard and fast reservation; we just need an approximate head count to know how much food to buy.
