Snowy cyclists

Saturday is pretty much out for cycling; even if the cold rain and even snow stop, a high of five degrees is too cold for me to enjoy. But there are two rides offered for Sunday (9 degrees, sunny). I’ll do a standard intermediate-level Tama River loop, and Mike has a moderate hill-climb planned out Shibusawa way.

Sunday 19th - Shibusawa Loop (Mike)

Assuming the area isn’t covered in snow and ice after Saturday, I’ll do a ride around some hills in west Kanagawa. Meet: 09:30 on Sunday 19th, Family Mart near the south exit of Shibusawa Station (Odakyu Odawara line) There’s a expressish train arriving at 09:15, which gives time to unpack bikes and gather thoughts. Proposed route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31757149 https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31757149 63 km, just over 1000 m of climbing, in bite-sized chunks. I’ve never done this route before, so there may be some improvising, walking, etc. based on road conditions.

Sunday Tama River Loop

Intermediate-level. 55km, easy but fast. Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. Alternate rendezvous points: KFC in Ebisu @ 11:30, Intersection of Kan-Nana and Komazawa-Dori @ 11:45, Komazawa Park @ noon, bridge at Futako-Tamagawa (Kanagawa side) @ 12:20, Gas Bashi @ 12:45 or 1:00.
