Too damn hot
…to ride in the noonday sun. Sure, cycling is beneficial both physically and mentally, but what good is that if you risk sunstroke? It’s going to be as hot as 35 degrees this weekend. So we’ll beat the heat with two NIGHT RIDES and one very early morning ride. So make sure your bike lamps have fresh batteries and we’re good to ride gently into the night.
Masks up, please
Saturday - Jonan Beat the Heat Ride.
Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 6:00 a.m. SHARP. (not a typo; a.m.)
Bring: water, helmet, face mask
Pace: Easy, beginners
Distance: 30km
Leader: James
Come one, come all. Early ride to beat the heat! We’ll take a leisurely standard Half-Fast route down to Jonan Jima and back before the sun starts baking the tarmac. Return to Grand Hyatt by 9 a.m. Leader: James. Contacts: sw08023jp@PROTECTED Tel: 090 2874 4848
Saturday - Odaiba Night Ride
Start at the Grand Hyatt at 6:00 p.m. for a brilliantly illuminated 30-km jaunt out to a convenience store picnic on the Bay. You’ve probably done this ride before; we do it almost every Saturday. But it’s a whole different animal at night. We can stop for photo ops on request. Leader: me. Back by maybe 9:00.
Sunday - Jonan Night Ride
Another 30-km jaunt, this time to Jonan Jima, near Haneda Airport. It’d be extra cool if the planes are landing on runway #1. This route is considerably less flood-lit than the Odaiba run, so make sure your headlamps are in good working order. Start at the Hyatt at 6:00 p.m. Back maybe by 9:00
Stay safe
