Yep, Sayaka, our NHK weather girl, tells me the rainy season has officially arrived in Tokyo.
Saturday looks like a washout, and I have a medical appointment on Sunday. But Paul has humbly leapt into the breach and will lead a modified Tama River ride on Sunday with a LATE START time (1:00) to avoid the forecast morning showers.
Sunday Afternoon Tama River Ride
Avoiding today`s morning rain showers, we will do a modified version of our ever-popular ride along the Tama River.
Start at Komazawa Park's west entrance at 1:00 p.m. We’ll take an easy pace out to the river where we will stop at Futakobashi briefly to pick up
any west enders. (by 1.30 p.m. latest please). We'll trundle down the river (avoiding the wet patches) to Haneda, through Asahi Ebitori Park (brief
bathroom break) and on to Showajima (avoiding the construction at the entrance to the Omori Furusato-no-Hamabe Park) and then following the
regular route to Jonanjima, where we will stop for a brief refreshment break before heading back. Depending on who joins, we may split into more
than one group for the return leg. Back by 5:00 or so.
Please make sure all your bike lights are working as it might get gloomy, bring spare tubes and a pump etc.It might be wise to pack a small rain jacket just in case. Masks, eco bags, helmets as usual.
