Who was that masked man?
My little vaccine poll on Wednesday yielded only three unvaccinated members. One who has never ridden with us, one who will get right on it, and one who doesn’t even live in Japan anymore.
Tokyo’s daily new cases have gone from 4,700 on August 13 to about 25 this week. So, unless the numbers go up again, I’m lifting the requirement to remain masked while riding. Yay!
But please bring along a mask and wear it for our Hyatt meet-and-greet, and for when we go into convenience stores, etc. Of course you can still wear one while riding if you wish.
The downside, for some, is that now, you must be vaccinated to participate in rides. This is an honor system, but please carry proof of vaccination; iPhone images okay. If you haven’t got the shots yet, it’s really easy to do nowadays.
The eco-bag requirement will never be lifted. Half-Fast doesn’t condone single-use plastic bags. Bring along a reusable one.
This weekend is looking absolutely perfect for some fall riding/socializing, with sunshine (don’t put away the sunblock yet) and 17-20 degree temps. So here are a pair of outings for your consideration.
Saturday Odaiba Beginners’
Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for a quick 30-km ride out to the Doek in the Bay for a brew or two. Back by 2:30 at the latest. Convenience store lunch. Leader: me.
Sunday Kasai Rinkai Adventure.
Start at the Hyatt at 11:00 for a intermediate-level jaunt out to the pretty seaside park near Disneyland. Usually about 50 km, depending on the route we select. Convenience store lunch. Canals, parks, bike paths. Can get pretty fast on the backstretch. Back by around 3:30. Leader: me
Ciao for now,
