Chillier
…this weekend but still quite bikeable. Saturday 14 degrees, Sunday 11, with sun both days and low winds.
So we have three rides for you to choose from; I’ll do a pair of easy rides, to Odaiba and Haneda, and Phil plans to go out Tamagawa way Sunday and do something frighteningly called “hill repeats.” I don’t now what that means, nor do I want to.
Masks up for meet-up spots and convenience stores, etc., optional while riding. And don’t forget your eco bag for when you buy your lunch. Half-Fast frowns on single-use plastic bags.
Saturday Odaiba Beginners’
Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for an easy, 30-km lope out to the magical island in the bay for a brew or two. Convenience store lunch. Back by 2:30 at the latest.
Sunday Haneda Beginners’
Start at the Hyatt at 11:00 for another easy ride, this time out to Jonan Jima beach park across from Haneda Airport. 30km. Back by 2:30.
The “Tama River Group,” which usually hooks up with my riders at Futago Tamagawa, can meet up there and start at 11:00 to get to Jonan at about the same time as my group does. Chose a leader and see you at the beach.
Tamagawa River with Hill Repeats Ride
This from Phil:
Start at the Roppongi Grand Hyatt at 10:00am SHARP (please gather at 09:50 or so), ride past Meguro Station and along Rt 312, past Todoroki station and down to the Tamagawa River for the typical meeting point at the South end of Futago Bridge (up on the bike path above the Tamagawa Green Space BBQ Area), and then along Tama to Tamagawara Bridge where we will exit the path to do hill repeats (up to 5 loops) in Sakuragaoka, and then back. Should be about 90km total if we do all 5 loops, but can shorten if tired or cold.
If you plan to start anywhere except the Roppongi Grand Hyatt, please email or text me to make sure I'm aware to find you and pick you up.
