Looks like
A repeat of last weekend’s weather, with temps in the low 20s and some “PM showers” on Sunday.
So we have three rides on offer. I’ll do the thrillingly traditional Odaiba run* on Saturday and weather permitting an intermediate level Tama River loop on Sunday. (if the rain threatens to come earlier, like it did last week, I’ll turn this into a simple out-and-back to Jonan Jima. Or cancel it Saturday night.) Also on Sunday, Todd has a more ambitious assault of Takao.
*"The routes may be the same, but the rides are always different."
Masks up, please, for meet-up spots, stores, etc. Otherwise optional while riding, And bring an eco bag for your convenience store lunches. Vaccinated riders only.
Saturday Odaiba Jaunt
Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for an easy, 30-km ride out to the magical island in the bay for a brew or two. Back by 2:00 or so.
Sunday Tama Loop
Intermediate-level. 55km, easy but fast. Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. Alternate rendezvous points: KFC in Ebisu @ 11:30, Intersection of Kan-Nana and Komazawa-Dori @ 11:45, Komazawa Park @ noon, bridge at Futako-Tamagawa (Kanagawa side) @ 12:20, Gas Bashi @ 12:45 or 1:00. Long break at Jonan Jima seaside park (across from Haneda) at 1:30 or 2:00. Convenience store lunch. Please contact me if one of these meeting spots applies to you. 090-5813-6721. Back by 3:00 or 3:30.
Sunday 'Rando Rindo’ (Todd)
Ascend Takao, and then after descending turn off to climb 'bijoudadi' - AKA 'rando rindo'.
after descending we will head towards zebra for a late lunch, and then back to Takao station. The route is a 55km loop starting and ending at Takao station, with about 1100m elevation gain. We will wait at the top/bottom of each climb, and the pace won't be fast - although feel free to race up the climbs - just wait for everyone when you reach the top. To get to Takao station you can either ride out, and use a Rinko bag. like this one: https://en.montbell.jp/products/goods/disp.php?product_id=1130426 Alternatively you can ride out from Tokyo. As always being water, snacks, puncture repair kit etc.
