LAST
WARM
DAY
Saturday looking like the last warmish biking day this year before we revert to our Winter Mode of mostly short out-and-back rides just to keep those biking muscles toned. Saturday could get to 20 degrees or more but with little sun, while Sunday may be 6 or 7 degrees cooler but with more sun. So it’s anyone’s guess which day will be more pleasant.
So at the risk of sounding repetitive,* I’m going to again do an Odaiba Plus on Saturday and a Jonan Jaunt on Sunday. Kind of reversing last week’s rides.
Please bring along an eco-bag for any convenience store lunches.
Saturday Odaiba Plus
So named because we add 15 or 20 km on to the front end of our usual Odaiba beach ride to bring the total to 45-50km. Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. Rivers, canals, parks, windmills and a beach. Beer & snacks at the beach, back by 3:30 or so. Coffee
Sunday Jonan Jaunt
Start at the Hyatt at 11:00 for a quick 30-km ride out to the beach across from Haneda Airport. Convenience store lunch. Back by around 2:00.
Update from Paul:
I’m now at the halfway point in the chemo/radiation treatment. As expected I am starting to get more adverse side effects. I’m starting to lose my hair and my stomach often bleeds but, overall, it’s not that bad. Still on track (I hope) to start getting back on the bike in the New Year.
*Just kidding.
I’ve never been remotely worried about doing the same rides repeatedly. Given the weather, the fellow cyclists, the mood, we like to say, “The routes may be the same but the rides are always different.” I didn’t start the club to entertain you, but to get you out of the house for some much-needed exercise and vitamin D, show you how to get around the Supercity safely, increase your life expectancy and introduce you to several hundred new friends. So there.
Ciao for now,
