WEEKEND

(Feb. 24, 25)…looking a bit iffy, with a max of 9 degrees Saturday and rain Sunday according to the current forecast.

All the more reason you should carpe some diem and get out there THIS weekend (Sat: 14 and partly cloudy, Sun: 18 and mostly sunny).

So I’ll be offering a run out to the beach at Jonan on Saturday and a longer Odaiba Plus on Sunday.

Saturday Jonan Plus

Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 for an easy, 35-km jaunt out to a little beach across from Haneda Airport, where we can watch the planes come in, and then watch them go away again. Convenience Store lunch (bring an eco-bag. please). Back by 2;30 at the latest.

Sunday Odaiba Plus

So named as we tack 15 km on to the front end of our usual ride to the beach at Odaiba to make it about 45km total. Start at the Grand Hyatt at 11; back by around 3:30. Beach Bar lunch.

Updates from the injured list:

This from Paul, recovering from throat cancer:
I’m now on the recovery/rehabilitation path but it’s very slow. I’m still not eating much. I’m 74 kgs now, down from 86 kgs at the start of all this. I have some residual side effects - an infected stoma, a mild hernia and residual swelling. But it is not as bad as it could be. I have a CT scan scheduled for later today (Wednesday) and I'll get the results next week.  I'll then find out
if they managed to kill it all off or whether it spread. Fingers crossed. santiburipaul@PROTECTED

And from Ted, who got creamed in a hit-and-run in Taiwan last month:
I got to Tokyo at the end of January, mending day by day, doc says to keep neck brace on until about one week into March, and planning to climb back on a bike sometime in April. I’ve been stocking up on bright yellow shirts, flashing safety vests and a flashing  helmet.  I’ve now been hit three times by cars.  If it happens again, it will be because the driver was blinded by all the light. tedjohnson@PROTECTED

And the hits just keep on coming, guys and gals

if they managed to kill it all off or whether it spread. Fingers crossed.
