THREE RIDES
…on offer this lovely weekend (Saturday 29 and sunny, Sunday 25 but cloudy). On Saturday Brian will lead one of our classic all-day rides, down around the Miura Peninsula. Bike bag required for the train ride. Alas, technical and scheduling reasons prevent me from taking part, but I highly recommend this ride. Meanwhile, I’ll keep it closer to home on the same day with a 35-km Jonan Jima jaunt, and on Sunday we’ll do a 50-km Odaiba Plus.

Saturday Miura Adventure
This from Brian:
Do you miss our classic ride around the Miura Hanto? I miss those little fishing villages on Sagami Bay! So here it is again.
Date Saturday May 18
Catch the 8:49 Rapid-Limited Express from Keiko-Srinagawa for Misakiguchi
(I’ll get on at Keikyu-Kamata at 8:56)
Get on the first car as the back part of the train goes to Zushi
Get off at Kurihama at 9:52
Put the bikes together and try to be ready to roll by 10::00
If you are not familiar with trains and bikes in Japan, your bike needs to be in a bike bag (rinko bukuro) or otherwise (nearly) completely covered to get on the train. Montbell sells a light weight, easy to use bag. I recommend the one-wheel off version. Here’s a link to the notes on bike bags on the halffast website

The total ride is about 60. Lunch will be at a restaurant in Miura, probably between 2000 and 3000 yen, and ends at Zushi where we can take either JP or Keikyu home. Back in Tokyo by late afternoon/early eventing.

Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for an easy 35-km ride out to a little beach across from Haneda Airport where we watch the planes come in and watch them go away again. Convenience store lunch. Please bring an eco-bag. Back by around 2:00. Coffee
Sunday Odaiba Plus
So named as we add 15 km on to the front end of our usual Odaiba ride to bring the total distance to 45-50km. Dedicated bike paths, canals, bridges, windmills, and more. Beach bar lunch. Stuart at the Hyatt at 11:00 a.m. Back by 3:30 at the latest. Coffee
All I got for now
DON’T FORGET THE SUNSCREEN!
