I CAN SEE
CLEARLY NOW,
THE
RAIN
IS
GONE

Okay, “gone” may be a tad optimistic, but after a record 36 straight days of rain, I’ll settle for riding in a light drizzle. Thanks to all who worked to keep the club going in my absence, though there were few opportunities to ride.

Saturday is shaping up to be a gorgeous day, sunny with a high of 23 degrees, so let’s shake off the cobwebs with one of my favorite rides, an Odaiba Plus. Sunday a bit cloudier at about the same temperature and a little rain after 5:00, so we can probably fit in a ride out toward Haneda,

Newcomers should know that, as our name implies, we are not a higher-faster-farther group, but a relaxed gang of bikers who believe it’s not important how much you do, but how often you do it.

Saturday Odaiba Plus

So named because we tack 15 km on to our usual Odaiba run to make a 45-km adventure along canals, over bridges, and through forests with a few dedicated bike trails. Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m., back by around 3:30. Beach bar lunch.

Sunday Jonan Jima Jaunt

Start at the Grand Hyatt at 11:00 for a 35 km lope out to another little beach across from Haneda Airport. Please bring along an eco-bag for your convenience store lunch. Back by 2:00 or so.

Monthly burrito-fest

We usually gang and dine on the second Wednesday of each month at The Pink Cow, a funky little art bar in Akasaka that serves up some fine Cal-Mex grub and see what we all look like without the helmets, goggles and lycra. We usually roll in at about 7:00. This month it's the 14th. https://www.thepinkcow.com/
