Hello bikers,The typhoon seems to have gone away so we're back to hot and dry weather again. The heat is still a limiting factor for longer more innovative rides so Matt will do another Saturday evening ride out to Odaiba and I will do another early Sunday ride down the Tama river. If you want more variety in the rides, step up and volunteer to be a ride leader because it's the ride leader who decides the route, start time and place, etc.!Please use sunscreen for the daytime ride and bring a full water bottle. Hello bikers,So the hot and dry weather has changed to wet and warm weather - hardly ideal, but we're always optimistic that we'll get some rides in. Please note that we are watching the weather very closely for deterioration, being mindful that there's another typhoon on its way in, and therefore all our rides are provisional and might be subject to cancellation. If we cancel a ride, we'll try and get a note out by email at least an hour before the start so please check your own weather forecasts and be prepared. If the ...Continue Reading

Hello bikers,Well, it was rather hot last weekend and I was running out of stamina towards the end of our short Koremasabashi ride, so for this weekend I'm going to keep out of the heat. As the high is forecast at 36C and James being unavailable, that means no ride for Saturday.Sunday will be a little cooler but there will be showers in the afternoon. So we'll slot in an early ride to avoid most of the rain. Please *sunscreen up and bring plenty of water.****As we get into the holiday season we may be short of ride leade ...Continue Reading

Hello bikers,***Our weather forecasts all predict a high of 35 degrees in Tokyo on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons so our ride leaders have opted to go for the "beat the heat" set of rides. Please bring water and sunscreen and keep hydrated. If any rider feels unwell, let the ride leader know. It's better to spend a while in the shade recovering than pushing on risking one's health.****Please, please, please - read the details of start place and start time of each ride as these are not stan ...Continue Reading

*Bikers,****Cycling in the afternoon in the summer poses its challenges. Since safety comes first we'll be looking**to do early morning or evening rides whenever it starts to get uncomfortable in the afternoons. And **uncomfortable is what it is right now. ****Also please note that if you pump your tires up to a certain PSI in a cool air-conditioned environment**and then go out onto blazing hot asphalt, the internal pressure can rise quite a bit and old tubes may**not survive. There's a lot of literature out t ...Continue Reading
