*I’VE ORDERED*...better weather for tomorrow evening, so the cruise is a definite go. More below. The rain will stop in the early afternoon, but that’s too late for a ride. Sunday I have a guest we’ll take out to Odaiba, but he’ll be riding my lead-sled city bike, so just our usual Odaiba run.Masks optional, vaccinated riders only, and always carry a reusable eco-bag for any purchases.Sunday Odaiba*Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills for an easy, 30-km lope out to the magical island in the bay for a bre ...Continue Reading

Washout

May 11th 2023 MST

You probably …don’t need a note from me to know that rain is forecast for both Saturday and Sunday this weekend, so there are no rides planned at present. But the weather gods are fickle, and it it starts to look less wet on Sunday, expect a message about a Sunday rude, probably a Tama River loop, or a short, between-the-raindrops jaunt to Odaiba. And you could spend your time coming to the abrupt realization that the boat for our June 3 Tokyo Bay Cruise is very nearly full, and that it might be time to make your res ...Continue Reading

Golden Weekday Rides

April 30th 2023 MST

GOLDEN WEEKDAY RIDES Whereas: As of this writing, the weather for next weekend is looking rather damp. However: The three Golden Week holidays (3, 4, 5) are looking considerably dryer and partly/mostly cloudy at 23-25 degrees, so we have five rides for you to choose from. Wednesday Paul will lead an intermediate ride to Lake Tama, and on Thursday another intermediate ride to Takahata Fudo. Also on Thursday, I’ll keep it closer to home with an easy jaunt out to Jonan Jima. Then on Friday, I’ll do an Odaiba Plus ride, wh ...Continue Reading

Rides: 22, 23

April 20th 2023 MST

*SPRING!*This weather is so good that it would be a crime /not/ to go out cycling. (Hoo boy, did we (okay, I) judge it wrong last weekend, getting us caught not only in the rain, but in a monstrous thundershower, with HAIL thrown in just to make it more fun!) The temps this weekend will hover around  20 degrees, the skies will be clear, and the wind manageable. So, I’m looking at an easy Odaiba run on Saturday and an intermediate Tama River loop on Sunday.Note: if a lot of these rides seem the same to you, it’s bec ...Continue Reading
