Sadly,*One of our most stalwart members* is leaving us soon, but he’d like to complete the karmic circle and go on one more Odaiba ride, thus this Saturday’s jaunt out that way will be dubbed the Greg Brutus /*Sayonara /*Odaiba Beginners’ Ride. /*I’ll also do another short ride on Sunday, out to Jonan Jima, and James will offer a full Tama loop, starting earlier with a possible meet-up at Jonan beach. The Lovely*…fall weather continues, with a pair of 18-degree, mostly-sunny days coming up. We’d be fools to not go riding. So, no surprise, a couple of our standards, an Odaiba ride on Saturday and a Kasai Rinkai adventure on Sunday. Masks required only for meet-up spots, close gatherings and going into convenience stores, etc. Don’t forget your eco-bag for your convenience store lunches. Also on Sunday,* a post-ride gathering at my place to celebrate James’s 50th. Probably about 3:30 or 4:00. Bring something ...Continue Reading

Fall bikers,*There may be some slight “PM showers” on Sunday (19 degrees), but Saturday (20 degrees) will be brilliant, with little wind either day. So I’m going to switch the usual order and offer a 55-km Tama Loop Saturday and a 30-km Odaiba jaunt on Sunday. Also on Saturday, Dr Josh is planning a more advanced Halloween ghost town ride that looks pretty intriguing out Chichibu way. Masks now required only at meet-up points and for going into convenience stores, etc., but optional while ...Continue Reading

Who was that masked man?*My little vaccine poll *on Wednesday yielded only three unvaccinated members. One who has never ridden with us, one who will get right on it, and one who doesn’t even live in Japan anymore.Tokyo’s daily new cases* have gone from 4,700 on August 13 to about 25 this week. So, unless the numbers go up again, I’m lifting the requirement to remain masked while riding. Yay! But please bring along a mask* and wear it for our Hyatt meet-and-greet, and for when we go into convenience stor ...Continue Reading

Autumn Bikers,* It looks as though we’ll be blessed with good weather this weekend, with just a small chance of a shower on Saturday. So let’s go out and pedal our asses all over Tokyo. Two rides, which you have probably done repeatedly this summer but I haven’t. As usual, masks up, wear a helmet, and bring an eco-bag for your convenience store lunch. Saturday Odaiba Beginners’*An easy lope out to the magical island in the bay, hopefully by now cleared of most of that bothersome Olymp ...Continue Reading
