Summer Bikers,*I’m off on Sunday for three months of pedaling my ass around eight western states and two Canadian provinces. In my absence, James and Paul will be shouldering ride-planning duties. Many of our usual rides will take place, plus a variant or ten. Any and all members are encouraged to lead rides. Just get your information (distance, elevation, degree of difficulty, start/end time and place, duration, and most importantly, beer stops) to James sw08023@PROTECTED  or Paul  santiburipaul@PROTECTED ...Continue Reading

NIGHT*RIDE!*Pleased was I to note a dry day coming up Saturday. Less so when I saw the high would be 32C with a “feels like” temp of 36! If you’re less susceptible to hot, muggy weather then please go out on Saturday and get some exercise. Then get back to the Hyatt by about 6:00 p.m. for a little midnight rambling.*Masks up, please; *you probably are awar ...Continue Reading

Rain

July 2nd 2021 MDT

Y’know,*I’d rather get wet riding on a day that no rain was forecast than not do a ride because rain is forecast and then doesn’t come. Like last Sunday. Grrrr.  We’re only as accurate as the (four) weather sites we check.Looks like both Saturday and Sunday will be pretty wet this weekend. So I’ll not plan any rides. Of course, just saying that increases the chances of a few dry stretches, so if it lets up, by all means get out there and get some exercise. You’re welcome. The Mask Thing*I really want to list our m ...Continue Reading

*HAPPY**TSUYU**TSUYU*Yep, Sayaka, our NHK weather girl, tells me the rainy season has officially arrived in Tokyo. Saturday looks like a washout, and I have a medical appointment on Sunday. The Mask Thing

June 11th 2021 MDT

Riders,Thanks to those who sent in their views on wearing masks while riding. Responses were 95% in favor of continuing on as we are. This means masking up while riding (though it’s acceptable to pull it down a bit when powering up a hill or something to gulp oxygen) and suitable social distancing while on breaks. (One fellow helpfully shared that he doesn’t like masks. As if there are people who do.)Note: A corollary of this is that these rules apply to all Half-Fast rides, even those I don’t lead, where I’m not person ...Continue Reading
