Sunday Kasai

April 16th 2021 MDT

Well, *Saturday’s *forecast of*“P.M. showers” may start too early in the P.M. for our purposes. This can, and usually does, change, so if the rain holds off, by all means go out and do some pedaling. But I’m not scheduling anything on the day.*Sunday*, however, is looking ideal for a ride out to Kasai Rinkai Park.Masks up, please*. And bring an eco-bag* for your convenience store lunch. Half-Fast is committed to reducing the number of single use plastic bags that get into our environment. Not optional. Consequ ...Continue Reading

*The blossoms*...are gone, but the weather looks dry, so we’ll revert to our normal patterns. This Saturday (15 degrees, partly cloudy) the usual quick, keep-fit run to Odaiba, and Sunday (18 degrees, mostly sunny) a Tama River loop. AND Martin’s cooking up a great-looking ride out Odawara way on Sunday and wants to know if any Half-Fasters would like to join.*Masks up, please. *And *bring an eco-bag* for your convenience store lunches. Half-Fast is trying to minimize single-use plastic bags. Take a look at this from Jo ...Continue Reading

Saturday Blossoms

April 1st 2021 MDT

*Maybe*...there’ll be a few petals left this weekend. *So on Saturday *I’ll lead a group out to the Arakawa, then upstream a few K’s to a supermarket and then a cherry tree-infested park. Return, if I can remember how, via a fascinating route along canals, dodging fellow revelers and hitting some great photo ops. Not a long ride, about 35k, maybe. Start at the Grand Hyatt at 11:00 a.m., back by about 4:00.Masks up, please,* and bring an eco-bag *for your luncheon purchases. We’re trying to reduce the number of sing ...Continue Reading

I don’t have a lot of time, so just the usual beginners’ jaunt out to Odaiba.Masks up, please.* Tokyo will lift its state of emergency on Sunday. Feedback welcome on if we should continue with the masks or not? And bring an eco-bag* for your convenience store lunch. February 25th 2021 MDT

"Just*Kidding!"*The evil February Monster cackled maniacally as he started to swing shut the walk-in freezer door on Half-Fast Man. “Back to my normal weather patterns!” “Not so fast, iceball" cried Changeable Weather Girl. “Turns out that after cold and sunless skies forecast all week, this weekend will be perfectly cyclable for this half-assed crew!” (It’s how she said it.)Still cold; highs 9-12 degrees, some sun, could be windy. Dress appropriately. So I’ll do a pair of beginners’ rides, ...Continue Reading

Tuesday ride from Jack

February 21st 2021 MDT

Takao-san + Zebra + One small extra*Approximately a 110km route that starts at Futako Tamagawa, goes up Takao, stops at Zebra (🦓☕️🥐), one more small climb, then mostly flat to Tamagawa, and cruise downriver back to Futako Tamagawa. This is a “my first hill” ride where we cut out the Honzawa Dam climb and avoid the rouleurs that is OneKan.  The pace will be relaxed but relentless.I think we will be done 3:30pm but may get pushed to 4:30pm depending on pace. Please practice good hygiene and etiquette.Ride leader:*Jack ...Continue Reading
