Saturday Odaiba (maybe plus)

August 7th 2025 MST

COOLER**TOMORROW*Only by a degree or two at a forecast 32, but with only 50 percent humidity and even a few clouds. So I’d like to emerge from the nighttime darkness and do a 30-km day ride to Odaiba. And we can exercise a little adaptability if it’s not too unpleasant after we cross the big bridge and extend the ride to a 45-km Odaiba Plus. We’ll decide en route. Rain is forecast for the next several days.*Saturday Odaiba (Plus)*Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for a 30-km (45-km) jaunt out to t ...Continue Reading

Saturday Odaiba Night Ride

July 31st 2025 MST

“CHANGEABLE” *It’s the word weather forecasters use when they have no friggin’ idea what’s going to happen. I’ve been monitoring Saturday’s daytime temps all week and watched them range from a frigid 30 degrees up to a lethal 36. So sorry/not sorry, we’ll again fall back on a beat-the-heat night ride Saturday evening out to Odaiba.Saturday Night Special*Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 6:00 p.m. for an easy, 30-km jaunt out to the magical island in the bay. Even more magical by night. Beach bar sn ...Continue Reading

35**DEGREES*Is way too hot to bicycle safely, or enjoyably, for that matter. But we still need exercise.  (And social interaction. And beer,)  So it’s back into the darkness this weekend with a pair of night rides. I know some don’t like riding at night, but we’ve little choice.*Saturday Night Odaiba*Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 6:00 p.m. for a brilliant 30-km jaunt out to the beach by the bay for a brew or two and perhaps a beach bar snack. Stunning views guaranteed. Back by 8:30 or so.*Sunda ...Continue Reading
