Monthly meet, annual Bday

February 9th 2026 MDT

Yo, half-fasters!Tomorrow is the second Wednesday of the month, a time when we traditionally descend on The Pink Cow, a funky little art bar in Akasaka   https://www.thepinkcow.com/contact/   to dine on Tex-Mex specialties, perhaps a beverage or two, and talk about all things bicycle. It’s Japan’s Foundation Day, so there’s that. This month’s meetup will also serve as an observance of the founding of your humble padrone, as my birthday comes next week. We start rolling in at around 7:00. Hope to see ...Continue Reading

Snowed out, Monthly meet, Birthday

February 5th 2026 MDT

*SNOW!*It happens. And while I love the white stuff, I’m not too wild about cycling in it. Plus the temps for Saturday and Sunday stand at 5 and 2 degrees respectively; and those are the /highs/. So no rides planned this weekend, but that doesn’t mean we can’t socially interact in other ways. Sunday Odaiba

January 29th 2026 MDT

*CALL ME**NUTS!*But if it’s above 8 degrees and sunny, I gotta get out there and do some pedaling. This week it looks like Sunday will be a bit more amenable to biking around town, with a high of 11 and little wind. (Saturday’s windy 8 degrees may be more of an ordeal.)So I will (again) head out for Odaiba on Sunday. Sorry/not sorry that our rides tend to be the same, but this club is not designed to entertain you but to get you out of bed and on your bike in the sunshine and maybe meet a few new friends. I’ve done ...Continue Reading

*IT’S GOING TO BE**10 DEGREES**ON SATURDAY*And sunny, with little wind. Not exactly a heat wave, but positively balmy compared with the last few days, and perfectly bikeable. Remember: regardless of the weather, it’s better to be out there than to not be out there.*Saturday Odaiba Beginners’*Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for an easy, 30-km ride out to the beach by the bay. Beach bar lunch. B ...Continue Reading

January 9th 2026 MDT

First off, a huge thank-you to James and Paul and Mike for superbly handling all things Half-Fast during my recent wanderings Stateside. BTW, Paul is currently undergoing a particularly difficult cancer treatment. You can send him your well-wishes at santiburipaul@PROTECTED***COLD, INNIT?***HARD TO BELIEVE *…that this weekend will bring sunshine and temps of 14-15 degrees.
