Tuesday Odaiba

December 29th 2019 MDT

The Last Ride*…of the year anyway. We don’t normally schedule rides on weekdays, but then those weekdays are rarely the last day of the year and unseasonably warm. Tuesday's weather is forecast to be sunny with a high of 18 degrees! I’m not making this up. To me, it’s impossible to ignore this. Consider this ride a preemptive measure against all the overindulgence you have planned for the evening. Tuesday Odaiba Beginners’*Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for an easy, 30-km jaunt out to the ...Continue Reading

Amazing but true!**The weather is forecast to warm up to maybe 16 degrees on Saturday, so if you put your cycling shorts in mothballs already, you acted too soon. No other rides have been submitted yet, so I will doggedly persist with an Odaiba run on Saturday and a Tama loop on Sunday (12 degrees).**“The routes may be the same but the rides are always different.”***Saturday Odaiba Beginners’**Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for our usual easy 30-km lope out to the Beach by the Bay for a Brew o ...Continue Reading

HF Bonenkai

December 10th 2019 MDT

Holiday Revelers!*A note to remind you that tomorrow, Wednesday, is our Half-Fast bonenkai year-end party. (Okay, it’s our monthly meeting dolled up as a bonenkai, but who needs a valid reason to gang and dine with friends?)The Pink Cow In Akasaka is noted for its hearty food, especially the burritos. In fact, after sampling burritos all over Tokyo (there aren’t that many), I can reasonably state that the Cow’s are by far the best. Check the website for a menu and directions. http://www.thepinkcow.comWe’ll roll in ...Continue Reading

Brrrrrrr

December 5th 2019 MDT

Shivering cyclists!*You think today is cold? Saturday’s forecast is for a drizzle with a high* of only five degrees. Even without the wet, that’s below my enjoyment threshold. The good news is that Sunday we return to more normal early winter weather patterns, at 12 degrees and sunny. So let’s head out to Kasai Rinkai that day. No other rides have been submitted yet. Next weekend looks like it will be even warmer.Half-Fast Bonenkai*Don’t forget about our meet-up next Wednesday the 11th at the Pink Cow. I’ll send a remi ...Continue Reading

Bundle up!*It doesn’t usually get this cold until after Christmas, but at least it’ll be dry and therefore we will be out there peddling our asses around Tokyo and environs. On Saturday (12 degrees and sunny) I’ll do the usual run out to Odaiba. On Sunday (15 degrees but cloudy) a Tama loop. Also on Sunday, Peter and Akira will go climb some hills. Half-Fast Bonenkai*Be sure to come down to the Pink Cow on Wednesday the 11th for our  bonenkai and dig in to some of that great Cow grub.
