Hungry Bikers!Tomorrow is the second Wednesday of the month, when we traditionally - although of late somewhat irregularly - gather in a bar or retaurant to eat, drink and chat about stuff (but not US or UK politics).I've booked a table at the Hobgoblin in Shibuya, which is alongside the Keio Inokashira Line station on the 3rd floor above a 7-Eleven convenience store. Gather from 7.00 p.m.http://hobgoblin.jp/%E2%80%8Bホブゴブリン渋谷/Notes:(1) I'm told that they'll be showing a rugby match on the TV. Not to worry - if we g ...Continue Reading

I think that the advertised ride would be wet and cold, so it's called off. (Maybe, just maybe, we'll do it on Monday 8th. That will depend on the weather forecast, etc. If you're free and interested, then ask:peter.evans.somewhere@PROTECTED .) -- Thank you for being on our list. The Sunday Tama Loop, however, is still on. Look for a possible rain cancellation on that in the morning. + + + + + + + + + +From Peter: Sunday 23 June: "Four passes" ride CANCELLED The weather forecast has turned very wet, and this is a route that doesn't even have bridges under which one can wait out the squalls, let alone convenience stores dispensing hot coffee. And therefore another cancellation. Sorry again to raise hopes and then to dash them. + + + + + + + + + + -- Thank you for being on o ...Continue Reading

Between the Raindrops*While the forecast is for “showers” both Saturday and Sunday, we’ve been fooled before by forecasts of rain that doesn’t come.. So I’l pencil in the usual Odaiba jaunt on Saturday and a Tama River loop on Sunday. Watch for cancellation notices by 9:00 a.m. both days, but I really don’t care if we get a little rained on. Need the exercise. This will be my last chance to ride with you guys until mid-September, as I’m off Saturday next for ten weeks of wandering (and biking) around the US a ...Continue Reading

(This is the start time, not a meet-up time.) Not so long, and not so much climbing: 73 km, +1600m.From Hadano, we will go up Yabitsu -- but not by the regular way (which is a bit of a slog) but instead partly via rindō (rather steep in places). We will go down to lake Miyagase via R70 and around a flat rindō to Miyagase dam. Finally, we'll climb Hanbara ...Continue Reading
