Saturday rides

November 26th 2020 MDT

Saturday*…will still be cycling-shorts weather (16 degrees and sunny), so of course our usual Odaiba run, and Peter has something planned out Okutama way. His delightfully detailed description is below. Nothing as yet planned for Sunday. Masks up, please.* And bring an eco-bag* for your convenience store lunch. Half-Fast is trying to reduce our dependence on single-use plastic bags to zero. Saturday Odaiba Beginners’*Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for our usual 30-km jaunt ...Continue Reading

Weekend rides, 21, 22

November 19th 2020 MDT

November*…continues to provide us with ideal cycling weather, with temps of 19-20 degrees and decent amounts of sunshine. So this week we have three rides. Saturday the usual beginners’ jaunt to Odaiba and Sunday an intermediate Tama Loop from me. Also on Sunday, Akira is planning the intriguingly named, intermediate-level  “Fish Ride” down Miura way.Masks up, please.* Bring an eco-bag to cut down on single-use plastic bags generated from our convenience store lunches. This week a one-beer fine for violat ...Continue Reading

Rides, 14, 15

November 12th 2020 MDT

I just love November*Cycling weather. This weekend temps 17-20 degrees and sunny. So we have four rides on offer, a pair of lunatic-level rides on Saturday courtesy Jack and KG Lee, a beginner-level jaunt also on Saturday, and a Kasai Rinkai adventure on Sunday.Masks up, please. *And bring an eco-bag.* There’s no reason Half-Fast should be generating dozens of single-use plastic bags for our convenience store lunches. (I just watched the documentary “Plastic Ocean.”) Not a requirement (yet), but violators will be ...Continue Reading

Another *Gorgeous *Weekend**…coming up, with temps of 20-22 degrees and probably a bit of sun. So I’ll be out there with a pair of our standard rides, and Martin checks in with a scenic hill-climb up Ashinoko Lake way. You’re going to miss this kind of weather once January and February roll around.Masks up, please. Bring an eco-bag for your *convenience store lunches. Not a requirement, just a good idea.**Saturday Odaiba Beginners’*Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for an easy ...Continue Reading

Rides, 31, 1 (3)

October 29th 2020 MDT

The weather*…this weekend looks a lot like last weekend’s (mostly sunny, around 19 degrees; ideal for what we do), so pump up the tires and teflon the chains and let’s cover some Ks. I’ll do an Odaiba beginners’ run on Saturday and an intermediate Tama Loop on Sunday. On Tuesday, a national holiday, I may do another keep-fit jaunt to Odaiba, but wait for a confirmation of this on Monday night. Any other ideas?BAG IT.* Just a thought, but last time we visited Jonan Jima I noticed we left behind at least two dozen p ...Continue Reading

A beautiful weekend *...coming up, with sun and temps of  around 20 degrees. Three rides planned. On Saturday I’ll do the usual beginners’  run out to Odaiba, and Jack will attempt something considerably more ambitious out Chichibu way, likely involving some autumn foliage. Then on Sunday it’s an intermediate ride out to Kasai Rinkai and Wakasu parks. Don’t forget your sunscreen.Masks up, please.*Saturday Chichibu Selections*Chichibu Loop + Return trip to TokyoChichibu Loop GPX: https://connect ...Continue Reading

Sunday Tama Loop

October 8th 2020 MDT

Wet enough for ya?*Saturday will be very, very wet all day, but Sunday shows signs that typhoon Chan-hom may be heading off to soak somewhere else.
