Weekend (maybe) rides, 26, 27

September 24th 2020 MDT

Occasional showers*…is again the weather services' fallback phrase this weekend. But I’m going to schedule a pair of between-the-raindrops rides anyway based on the forecast info available right now (read: meaningless). Call me a mad, impetuous fool. Bring rain gear.An Odaiba run on Saturday and a Tama Loop on Sunday. They will both start at 10:00 a.m. *Either or both are subject to cancellation by 8:00 a.m.Masks up, please.*Saturday beginners’ Odaiba.*Our usual 30=km romp out to the island in the bay for a conbin ...Continue Reading

Rides, 19, 22

September 17th 2020 MDT

Yes, it’s hot*But I think this may be the last scorcher of the year, and we have a much cooler weekend coming up. Wet. But cooler. So we can return to daytime rides.Looks like we can get in a ride to Odaiba on Saturday (26 deg) before the forecast T-storms. Sunday looks considerably wetter, and Monday I have work. But on Tuesday (24 deg) we’ll do a ride out to Kasai Rinkai and Wakasu parks, starting a little earlier than usual,* James. Watch for a Sunday ride if the forecast improves. Masks up, plea ...Continue Reading

Sunday Tama

September 11th 2020 MDT

Okay, bikers, *The forecast for Sunday is improving by the hour. So let’s get out there for a few Ks with a Tama River loop. Bring rain gear just in case. We got enjoyably soaked las Sunday night when the forecast was for dry weather. We'll start earlier than usual, at 9:00 a.m., to take advantage of the cooler morning temps and get back before the threatened “PM thundershowers.”  Here’s the deets:Sunday Tama Loop*Intermediate-level, 55km, easy but fast. Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 9:00 ...Continue Reading

Weekend maybe rides

September 10th 2020 MDT

Well, hell.*Another probably wet weekend. Saturday looks totally rainy, again, but Sunday we may be able to get in a ride between the raindrops. I’ll send out a note Saturday afternoon if the weather looks even marginally cooperative. It would be an early start (around 9 a.m.) Odaiba ride. That’s all I have. The rest of this note is an advance notice from Thien Che about an upcoming century (miles) he’s panning on September 26th.Ciao for now,Il Padrone, 090-5813-6721=========================Time: *Meet at *08: ...Continue Reading

Rides, 5, 6 (maybe)

September 4th 2020 MDT

Monsoon, intense heat, and now typhoons*You’d think the weather gods don’t want us to go out and get our exercise (and beer).Still, though, ever hopefu, we persevere. James will  do a pre-storm dawn ride on Saturday, and I may do something Sunday afternoon or evening if the scattered thunderstorms scatter in a different direction. Stay tuned.About the masks.* I don’t like them any more than you do. But please don’t make me be the guy who has to remind people to wear them properly. They’re not called “neck masks.&q ...Continue Reading
