Saturday Tama

June 25th 2020 MDT

Pent-up peddlers*Looks like heavy rain on Sunday, so Saturday is the only rideable day this weekend. I had wanted to go out to Kasai Rinkai, but that route is only good for Sunday, when the traffic levels are lower. And a little jaunt to Odaiba isn’t enough. So repetition be damned, a Tama loop for Saturday! It’s going to be hot, at up to 31 degrees, so hydrate and remember we’re not racing. Masks in place, please.Saturday Tama Loop*Intermediate-level. 55km, easy but fast. Start at the Grand Hyatt in Rop ...Continue Reading

Tama Ride a GO

June 20th 2020 MDT

I can ensure dry weather if I cancel this ride, dontcha know. Looking mostly clear with a small chance of a drizzle midway. I’d rather get a bit damp than stay home watching the rain not come down.So we’re going, but bring rain gear.IP, 090-5813-6721 -- Thank you for being on our list. Rides, 20, 21

June 18th 2020 MDT

Masked Riders!*Sounds more romantic than it is, tight? This weekend we’ll get the dry, sunny weather we were so cruelly denied last week, so I’ll unaploogetically propose a pair of our usual rides. The routes may be the same, but the rides are always different. Different riders, different weather, different conversations. Anyone wishing greater variety is free to offer alternative rides or suggest changes to mine. So, a run out to Odaiba on Saturday and a Tama loop on Sunday. The weather will be partly cloudy and ...Continue Reading

Tuesday jaunt

June 15th 2020 MDT

Because*We were all housebound by the wet weather last weekend and because I have no work tomorrow, I’ll head out for a keep-fit…'Tuesday Odaiba Beginners’*Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. for a 30-km quickie out to the island in the bay. Weekend Rides (or not)

June 12th 2020 MDT

Happy Tsuyu Tsuyu!*Looking wet, wet, wet this weekend. Saturday pretty much a write-off,  but “scattered thundershowers” forecast for Sunday, so maybe we can get a ride in. I’ll monitor the weather sites and send out a note Saturday night if a Sunday ride is a go. Stay dry (and  healthy)Il Padrone, 090-5813-6721 -- Thank you for being on our list. Rides, 6, 7

June 5th 2020 MDT

Between the raindrops*Okay, there’ll be some thundershowers Saturday evening and Sunday morning. So an early-start Odaiba run on Saturday and a regular Tama loop on Sunday,We’ll again venture into convenience stores for refreshments, but otherwise maintain the social distancing; face masks while riding and when not actively eating or drinking.Saturday Odaiba Beginners’*Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills for a quick, keep-fit 30-km jaunt out to the magical island in the Bay. Tentative rides 6, 7

June 5th 2020 MDT

The weather remains hard to predict at this point. An Odaiba jaunt on Saturday and a Tama loop on Sunday. Both could start earlier than usual, like at 10:00.Give me a few more hours to check a fe more weather sites and finalise this -- Thank you for being on our list. Rides, 30, 31

May 28th 2020 MDT

Our Prime Minister*…has lifted the country-wide state of emergency, including Tokyo. That doesn’t mean things are back to normal, but I think we can consider taking properly distanced rest stops and venturing into convenience stores (read: beer). But we’ll keep our faces covered for the time being. So two rides this beautiful weekend, the usual hop out to Odaiba on Saturday and a Kasai Rinkai adventure on Sunday. Saturday Odaiba Beginners’*Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills for an easy 30-km lope out to th ...Continue Reading

Sunday Tama Loop

May 21st 2020 MDT

Pent-up pedalers*Much like last weekend, Saturday looking wet, but Sunday much nicer, so…a Modified Tama River Loop. *Jonan Jima seaside park is apparently closed, so we’ll not be heading out that way, shortening the ride to about 50km. Non-stop save for a few potty breaks. As usual, face masks mandatory* at all times, and keep a two meter distance when stopped. This will also serve as a sayonara ride for six-year member Chris Cornwall, who’ll be heading back to Chicago next week. Thanks, Chris! The detai ...Continue Reading
